FISHING IN ROSCOMMON

Angling Information Centre: Athleague Angling Centre that caters for Ballygar, Athleague & Castlecoote regions in Co. Roscommon.

River Suck including Hollygrove and Stoneham’s Lakes & Lough Loung.

Excellent pike fishing on many sections of this excellent bream fishing river.  Permit required for River Suck.  Permits can be purchased locally.  This river produces many specimens over 20lbs (9.072kg) and in most years several over 30lbs (13.60kg) are recorded.  Good bank fishing on the many stretches near the major towns.  Boat fishing enables the Angler to gain access to water that may not be fishable from the bank, this is possible with a new boat slip at Ballyforan (5 mins drive from the lodge).  The three lakes connected to the river also offer very good pike fishing from stands.  Boat fishing is also possible with boat slips at Hollygrove (5 mins drive away) and Stoneham’s lakes.

Good general coarse fishing with catches of Bream now at Ballyforan, Ballygar and at Athleague.  Excellent developed angling stretch at Donamon for disabled anglers.  There is tench and hybrid fishing on Hollygrove lake from the stand and from the island.  Good car parking and huge network of walk way and stands including disabled angling positions at Stoneham’s Lake at Donamon and Lough Loung near Glinsk.
